Energy Audits & EPC's

If you are interested in saving money and conserving energy you may have considered an energy audit.

An energy audit identifies how much energy your home consumes evaluates what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient. An audit will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time.

By having a domestic EPC carried out as opposed to an energy audit you will be able to identify where the most beneficial improvements could be made to reduce energy loss. An EPC is valid for 10 years and when you come to selling or letting the certificate could be used again thus saving you money.

Residential Energy Performance

The 25 million (approx) domestic properties (homes) in the UK account for approximately 25% of the UK’s CO2 emissions.

The EU is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% from 1990 levels by 2020, and by 30% if a satisfactory international agreement is reached at the UN climate conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.

In order to meet carbon reduction budgets, emissions from UK domestic properties need to be reduced by 35% on today’s levels by 2022. There is significant potential to reduce emissions from existing domestic properties by improving energy efficiency and these measures to reduce emissions will save people money on energy bills.

EPCs have been introduced to encourage wise use of energy and send out market signals about the efficiency and associated running costs of property. By following the recommendations included within the EPC running costs and CO2 can be reduced.
